This pub never seems to get the visitor numbers it deserves. The service is good, the food, good and its location is handy for Shawlands Railway Station for Cathcart Circle services and Pollokshaws West Railway Station for services from Glasgow Central to Barrhead, East Kilbride and Kilmarnock. It is also a handy spot for resting after a wander around Pollok Park and the Burrell Collection which is nearby.
Menu
What we ate and drank
A soda and lime, plus an Americano to start which arrived quickly.
We were the only other diners, so our wait for our lunch was a bit more than expected.
This was their flat iron steak which came with fries, salad and a choice of sauce. Mark picked chimichurri as his sauce which tasted fresh and flavoursome. Good chunks of steak which was cooked as requested.
Chicken schnitzel with fries, salad and diane sauce for myself. The sauce matched the chicken perfectly with the creamy and mushroomy sauce seeping into the breading. A thick piece of chicken, which was moist. Would have liked it to be more schnitzel in its thickness.
Verdict
For the price and excellent deal. Good service and a tasty lunch.
