£8.50 Burger and Fries deal at Fat Hippo
We’re always looking out for a bargain lunch in Glasgow city centre, so when you see a sign, it’s a sign to go in! I know that’s a bad one, sorry. So a sign for a budget lunch deal at Fat Hippo – we decided to pop in and give it a try.
It had been a while since we visited, our experience last time wasn’t the best, so we were hoping for a lot better this time. Service for seating and ordering drinks was certainly a lot quicker.
Menu
No sign of the chicken strips which we enjoyed last time, so we tried the cheese balls instead.
What we ordered.
A bottle of coke and a half pint of pepsi, a little American and a little Bill, plus cheese balls.
A healthy portion of chips, and glad to say that they were cooked through! The ratio of burger to bun was less than we would have liked and the toppings really didn’t shine here. No tang from the American mustard.
The fries were already seasoned with a lightly spiced seasoning which ended up being overpowering and annoying, especially when you don’t know that the seasoning is coming!
Onto the cheese balls. Another good portion, one to share we think. Drenched in buffalo sauce and ranch, a wee side of this would have been good to enable how much we wanted. Enjoyable cheesy balls 🙂
Verdict
Much better than last time, however, we still felt underwhelmed. For the price, an excellent deal when seeking lunch under a tenner in Glasgow.
Total price £29.
