Bar and Block – The Glasgow Foodie Sunday Roast Hunt
The great Glasgow Foodie Sunday Roast hunt continues, this week we are at Bar and Block which you will find at the bottom of Premier Inn, on Howard Street behind St Enoch shopping centre.
It was quick and simple to book a space with a confirmation email a day before reminding us of our booking. We arrive a little late, courtesy of the Sunday bus service. No problem to our hostess, who also joined in with our moans about Glasgow transportation.
Inside, it is as we expected with somewhere selling beef. Rugged and with cow art aplenty.

What we ate and drank
We started with an americano and an cherry iced latte – described as ‘ latte flavoured with cherry and vanilla syrup, served over ice with squirty cream. A tasty and refreshing iced latte, pity the squirty cream was having a lie in.
Drinks devoured, it wasn’t too long until our roasts arrived.
The ultimate roast (£23) and consists of half a chicken, roast beef and roast lamb served with a yorkie, roasties, carrots, mixed greens, parsnips and gravy.
The roast chicken (£17.50) is served with yorkie, roasties, carrots, mixed greens, parsnips and gravy.
Alongside a side of pigs in blankets (£4.50) A tad crispy, Mark likes his bacon crispy…possibly not as crispy as this! The sausage underneath was moist and slightly herby.
We will admit, we were surprised with how good this looked (sunburned pigs in blanket aside). We had been prepared for the worst with this being a chain. Suitably impressed we dug in. Moist chicken and tender veggies, our only gripes were that the yorkies were a bit too crispy and not enough spongy batter to soak up the gravy and the roasties looked like they had been out the night before for a party.
If you have any space after this, there is a dessert menu available.
Overall, an impressive Sunday Roast which did what it said on the tin.
