New opening Laz Turkish Tapas

What was Roma and before that loads of other places, is now Laz Turkish Tapas.  With the good weather, it was time for something lighter to eat and there isn’t much of that in Glasgow city centre.

Inside it hasn’t changed much from the last time we were in, still the big spacious restaurant.

What we ate and drank

We ordered a couple of soft drinks, it was that kind of day and placed our order.

Soon after some warmed bread and garlic butter arrived.  The garlic zing and smell was mouthwatering.  Pity the same couldn’t be said about the ‘butter’.  More like a vegetable spread with an oily taste lingering and coating the mouth.

MÜCVER  £7.25

Fritters made with grated courgette, carrot, potato and parsley. Bound with egg and flour. These could have done with a little bit more cooking as they were soft and gooey inside. However, a light and the creamy yoghurt and pepper sauce was delish to dunk into. For the price, at least another fritters wouldn’t go amiss.

LAZ KÖFTE £8.25

Grilled lamb meatballs, seasoned with aromatic herbs and spices.  Just what we needed, fresh and tasty. They were a little small for the price, or again, throw on another to the plate.

GRILLED SUCUK £8.25

Grlled Turkish beef sausage. £8 for one small sausage….I think you know where this is going?  A punchy sauce accompanies a firm sausage. Laz Turkish Tapas, Bath Street, Glasgow

BEYAZ PEYNIR & KAVUN £6.75

Feta served with melon.  Salty feta and sweet melon, delicious.

PISTACHIO OIRIT EZMESI £7.50

Crumbled lor and Ezine cheese whipped with pistachios and truffle oil.  Order more bread for this, delicious. Very sweet with the sauce, I’d ask first this off next time as the cheese being whipped made it sweet enough for me. Laz Turkish Tapas, Bath Street, Glasgow

We also ordered HAYDARI £6.50 Thick yogurt with garlic, finely ground walnuts, butter and mint.  Neither of us could taste or sense any of the walnuts. It was however a creamy, think, minty dip.  £6.50 worth??

Verdict

👍

Tasty food, however the coats of each dish for the portion size wasn’t balanced.  Yes, I do understand how much things cost and the overheads involved but….

Service was quick and friendly.
