Get Cosy in Kozi Cafe
Another wander around town on an architectural walk left us starving. We skipped breakfast to get those extra 20 minutes of sleep! Mark suggested Kozi Cafe, High Street, which was handily around the corner from the end of our guided walk.
It was busy inside, a popular spot, we were lucky to get a seat and just got in before there was a flurry of more people. A good sign we hoped.
Menu
What we ate and drank
A matcha latte, biscoff coffee and a caramel latte to start. All good, if a little cooler than we would liked so they were quaffed quickly whilst we waited for our food.
It seemed like forever for our food to arrive, about 20 mins, at least we know it is cooked fresh.
First up the bacon and egg stack. Three pancakes with bacon and a fried egg served with some maple syrup. The pancakes were nice and fluffy (he forgave the overcooked bits), bacon was perfectly crispy, but egg was overdone and needed another to balance out the portions. Maple syrup was needed otherwise it would probably have been too dry. Overall nice but if he’d been less hungry he might have sent it back for being overdone
Mark had loaded house sourdough – kimchi scrambled eggs with glazed pak choi and sesame. Impressed with the scrambled egg, impressively fluffy. The kimchi provided a pickly tang, it wasn’t too full on kimchi.
A croque madam for me, focaccia, ham, poached eggs, cheddar cheese and bechamel sauce. Not the most appealing looking of dishes, however, what it lacked in looks it made up with flavour. A good handful of ham on top of a cheesy slice of focaccia with poached eggs and a creamy bechamel. A slab of carby tastiness.
We had been eyeing up the cakes, however we all were full to the brim. A good and bad sign, so we’ll just have to return for a cake sample.
