We try Angeethi By Sagar Massey, new addition to MICHELIN guide
Angeethi By Sagar Massey has just been awarded a Bib Gourmand from MICHELIN and surprisingly enough we ate there on Friday! Read on to find out what we thought of it.
Sagar Massey launched Angeethi, in June 2025, bringing a ‘deeply authentic Indian dining experience’ to Glasgow’s Southside. He’s a finalist from MasterChef: The Professionals, so we expect delicious things.
It’s at the Mosspark Boulevard end of Paisley Road West, beside Morrisons and Berryknowes Road. Head up the stairs to the first floor.

Inside, the vibe is relaxed and friendly. There was a hum of conversation and busy staff with the decor wooden, modern and again relaxed.

Mark was excited by the wine selection, as there was some Indian wines listed.

What we ate and drank at Angeethi By Sagar Massey
Sula Vineyards – Dindori Reserve Shiraz – Deep Ruby colour. Smoky, savoury, leather aromas. Dry, very acidic. Sour blackberry taste. It’s got legs. Quite robust and alcoholic.
Sula Vineyards – Chenin Blanc 2025 -Pale colour. Aromas of melon, pear, and apple. Medium sweet, medium acidity. Sweeter than the average Chenin Blanc. Quite light and drinkable.
Amritsari Machhli Fry – £7.50 Crispy fried fish fillets marinated in Punjabi spices, a coastal delicacy from Amritsar.  Not as crisp as we would have liked and the spices didn’t seem to have marinated into the fish meat. The batter had that spongey texture to it – too thick a batter?

Chatpati Tandoori Gobi – £8.50 Cauliflower florets in tandoori masala, roasted till crisp and smoky. This was much better. Roasted and spiced cauliflower. Good sized pieces served and not mushy!

Old Delhi Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) – £13.95 Tandoori chicken simmered in a rich, buttery tomato and cream sauce with fenugreek. Couldn’t tell you if the chicken had been cooked in a tandoor at all. The sauce was very similar to a tin of tomato sauce with not a hint of fenugreek. A creamy, tomato sauce with bits of chicken.

Garlic and Coriander naan £3. Smelled delicious however…not as fluffy as we would have liked.

A side of Gunpowder Aloo £4.50 Tender baby potatoes coated in spices. I would like to be a gun fight with these potatoes as I’m sure I’d win- the expected bang wasn’t there.

Chai tea was ordered, seemingly this is complementary, good chai and could easily have sat with more.

Gulab Jamun with Vanilla Ice-Cream – £6.50 Soft syrup-soaked milk dumplings served warm with creamy vanilla ice cream. Perfect gulubs, the ice cream didn’t add anything, or the silver leaf!

Rabdi Faluda -£7.50 Rich condensed milk dessert layered with rose-flavored vermicelli, basil seeds, and sweet syrup. Sweet and creamy with a strong rose flavour. The ice chunks were a little off putting, maybe OK when having on a hot day.

Verdict
OK, nothing amazing.
Service was attentive and friendly, the vibe just what was needed with a catch up with friends night and we weren’t rushed.
We enjoyed our meal and drinks, great to see the Indian wines listed and the service was just what was needed. However, we expected more from the flavouring and indeed execution of the dishes – I’m looking at you fried dish and butter chicken!
Toilets were clean.
TL;DR
+small menu, hopefully means fresher food.
+atmosphere
+service
-food was tasty, but….needed something else.
– not disabled friendly
