Dining Tales from inside Glasgow’s hospitality scene
We joined a sold out night in Waterstones last night at the launch of Dining Tales book. Dining Tales is the work of Marco Giannasi, the former owner of Battlefield Rest and Alex Meikle, author.
Marco Giannasi has recently retired from the Glasgow restaurant scene and went on a journey to meet the chefs and those who make the Glasgow food scene. He collaborated with author Alex Meikle to bring these stories together in a book, and to raise money for Beatson Cancer Research.
We listened to stories from Marco as well as from Peter Mckenna of The Gannet, Giovanna Eusebi from Eusebi’s and Asif Ali from Shish Mahal.
What can be taken away from the night, and the book, is the passion and the hard work involved in hospitality. There were stories about family, potential catastrophe and what keeps them doing what they do.
