Italian/Turkish Cuisine in Southside Glasgow
After a good few years as Barbarossa, this site seems to have lived by a couple of different names over the last couple of years with The Italian and Romeo & Juliet as names. You’ll still see the toilets are named after Romeo and Juliet.

The location couldn’t be better to get to. Cathcart Railway Station is a couple of minutes walk away, you can see the station building aglow on the right hand side of the image above. First Bus also serve the area and there is car parking available.
Inside, there are steps down to the dining are which is clean and tidy and decorated in traditional Italian restaurant style.

What we ate
As always, Mark was hungry so he ordered the soup of the day, Minestrone whilst I ordered Bruschetta Pomodoro.

A warming and hearty portion of soup served with garlic bread.

The tomatoes on the bruschetta could have been left to marinade for longer for that typical macerated bruchetta topping taste. Good garlic taste to the base bread.
Next up, Gucci Macaroni Cheese. If Gucci means that the mac and cheese tastes of cheese then I’m a Gucci convert! Cheesy sauce coating perfectly cooked pasta.

Mark picked the chicken contadina risotto. Lots of chunks of chicken mixed into a flavoursome risotto base. There was so much chicken we saved some to take home to Cleo the cat, who approved of it.

Funny there always seems to be space for dessert with Mark. I was struggling, so picked an affogato whilst he had some Tiramisu and an Americano.

The tiramisu was creamy and suitably coffee tasting, a little bit more boozy for Mark would have made it perfect.
Verdict
Cyrus’ Kitchen has just recently opened and therefore there is a special 50% off main courses voucher delivered to Southside homes.
The food was tasty and service friendly. However, the proper price for the macaroni cheese is £16. Costs are expensive nowadays…but…really £16 for mac & cheese?
Cyrus’ Kitchen is the kind of place we envisage for family get togethers and week day get out the house dinners. The main course prices may restrict the number of regular visits from patrons.
An enjoyable visit with excellent chat from Cyrus
