What we ordered
Unfortunately, we didn’t receive a copy of the menu so didn’t know you could order extra Yorkies (it has to be done hasn’t it?) or cauliflower cheese or we would have been right in there! All we were asked was that there was a choice between roast chicken or roast beef…next time!
Mark picked the chicken, whilst I picked beef, alongside a couple of glasses of wine.
Foncalieu Domaine Combe Rogue Picpoul de Pinet for Mark. Pale colour. Peach and pear aromas. Medium+ acidity. Apple and lemon taste.
Vina Amate Rioja Reserva for me, deep Ruby colour. Aromas of leather, vanilla and blackcurrant. Dry, medium+ acidity. Needs airating or a bit of time to open up.
The dishes arrived and looked good, a proper homemade looking yorkie, a variety of veg and we each had pour own gravy so no fights!
The chicken looked more appealing than the beef with its crisp outside. Having all the veggies on the plate would’ve given more of a wow, and save moving them over.
Verdict
For the price, an excellent roast and a more relaxing way to spend Sunday than cajoling an oven!
