New whisky bar Liquor Store set to shake up Glasgow city centre
There’s a new name for Glasgow whisky lovers to get excited about, with Liquor Store preparing to open its doors on St Vincent Street.
Taking over the former Il Pastaio site at 80 St Vincent Street, this latest opening comes from the team behind Devil of Brooklyn, Tabac and The Last Bookstore – so expectations are already high.
A cosy whisky den in the city centre
Inside, the space has been brought to life by designer Paul Martin and the team at DSN79, the same folk behind Devil of Brooklyn and The Last Bookstore.
Expect a cosy, dimly lit setting with booths, high tables and proper sit-down dining spots, all wrapped up with walls lined with close to 1,000 bottles. A proper whisky den, but with a modern edge.

Small plates with a Scottish twist
On the food side, the kitchen is headed up by Otello Calvert – you might recognise him from Tagliotello, his Inverness food truck that built a big following on TikTok.
Here, the focus shifts to small sharing plates, taking familiar favourites and giving them a Scottish twist. Think along the lines of colcannon patties with burrata, Aberdeen Angus tartare and chicken tikka arancini.
For dessert, there’s a cranachan tiramisu made with whisky toasted oats and whisky and coffee savoiardi, while bread comes from Company Bakery, including focaccia, shokupan and white loaf.
Whisky cocktails for dram fans and the whisky-curious
Behind the bar, Mick Quinn is leading the drinks programme, with a menu designed to make whisky more approachable.
Whether you’re a seasoned dram drinker or just whisky-curious, there should be something here. Expect house serves, remixed classics and traditional cocktails, with standout pours including a whisky Spicy Margarita and a Talisker-based Aviation served with a black pepper caviar bump.
“Our goal is to honour the heritage of our national spirit while opening it up to a new generation of whisky drinkers,” said Mick Quinn, Head Bartender of Lazzurri Group.
Front of house is in safe hands too, with Euan Barker stepping in as general manager after more than eight years in the industry.
When does Liquor Store open?
