Review: French Dip Sandwich at Homemade, Hope Street, Glasgow
Homemade on Hope Street has become one of Glasgow city centre’s go-to spots for a seriously good sandwich. Known for big fillings, fresh ingredients and lunchtime queues, we popped in to try it out.

Visiting Homemade on Hope Street
Located in the heart of Glasgow city centre, Homemade is ideal for a quick lunch, takeaway sandwich or something a little more satisfying than the usual grab-and-go option. It is a busy wee spot, especially around lunchtime, but the queue moves quickly and the sandwiches are worth the wait.

The French Dip Sandwich
The French Dip sandwich is a proper treat for roast beef lovers. Packed with tender beef, fresh rocket, caramelised onions and horseradish mayonnaise, it already has plenty going on before you even get to the best bit – the beef gravy dip.
At £12.50 this is not a cheap lunch, however, we easily fed two of us with one sandwich.
The beef was tender and full of flavour, with the horseradish adding a gentle kick without overpowering everything else. The caramelised onions brought a lovely sweetness, while the rocket kept things fresh and peppery.

Then comes the dip. Dunking the sandwich into the warm beef gravy takes it to another level. It makes each bite richer, juicier and more indulgent. It’s messy, but we loved it.

What We Loved
- Generous filling
- Tender roast beef
- Rich, savoury beef gravy for dipping
- A filling lunch in Glasgow city centre
Overall Verdict
The French Dip sandwich at Homemade on Hope Street is one of those lunches that feels simple but delivers big on flavour. It is hearty, satisfying and a little bit messy in the best way.
If you are looking for one of the best sandwiches in Glasgow city centre, Homemade is well worth adding to your list. We would happily return for the French Dip again.
