Food review : Christmas at Dalmeny Park

January 19, 2021 by Glasgow Foodie Leave a Comment

Christmas may have passed but here’s a suggestion for a Christmas get together for 2021, dinner at Dalmeny Park Hotel in Barrhead.

Located at the Neilston end of Barrhead, Dalmeny Park is easy to reach by car, bus and train.

Dalmeny park hotel Barrhead With it being full COVID time, there was a selection of mocktails and low alcohol drinks. (Top tip don’t pick the Tennents Zero 🍺 unless you like the taste of malty water) however the mocktails were refreshing 🍹

The mocktails ordered were a RAD surprise with orange, cranberry, apple, pineapple juice and grenadine (£4) and a RADberry - strawberry purée, pineapple juice, sweet and sour mix and lemonade (£4)

Cheers! 🍹🍹

Food

It didn’t take too long for our food to arrive.

First up Haggis, Neeps and tatties with peppercorn sauce and crispy leeks. A peppery sauce surrounding creamy, smooth mash and haggisy haggis.

Panko crumbed prawns with salad and sweet chilli Mayo. Just the right size for a stater abs not too spicy to overshadow the prawns.

Honeydew melon with mango sorbet and passion fruit coulis. A refreshing start to the meal. It almost looked too good to eat.

Roast turkey with chipolata, sage and onion stuffing, roast and creamed potatoes and vegetables. Moist turkey, and the creamiest creamed potatoes ever.

6oz Sirloin Steak with grill garni, peppercorn sauce and fries.  For the price, a decent steak. Cooked as requested and again the creamy mash made an appearance.

Poached fillet of salmon with cheddar and leek sauce, creamed and roast potatoes with vegetables. Thumbs up for the creamed potatoes and tender salmon. The roast potatoes were OK, more creamed tatties please!

We were stuffed so full we couldn’t even face a cup of tea never mind dessert.  Thumbs up for Dalmeny Park and we’ll hopefully be back soon.

Verdict

👍 We’ll be back. For the price a good meal in comfortable surroundings. Staff were eager to help and COVID measures aplenty here.
