Italian sandwich shop Focacceria 138, Govanhill

April 5, 2021 by Glasgow Foodie Leave a Comment

Scene & souled food

Focacceria 138 is where the little Country Shop butchers was for years at 138 Allison Street in Govanhill.  We were sad to see the Country Shop go (they had fab mince rounds, thankfully they still have 2 other locations open) but are happy to see that another purveyor of tasty food has taken over.

Serving a variety of focaccia combinations, as well as coffee and cannoli from 7 am in the morning until 3 pm in the afternoon Monday to Friday. A single sandwich is £5, add any drink to make it £6.

Menu

The focaccia menu for the day we visited included options such as mortadella, provolone, or grilled aubergine with peppers, artichoke, pesto and mozzarella.

Verdict

Well filled with no scrimping on fillings. Fred, our cat, appeared as soon as the sandwiches were pulled out of their wrappings, so they must’ve had an enticing aroma. We gave him a few bits of cheese and meat, which he happily hoovered up. We both really enjoyed the sandwiches, although I would have liked the focaccia to be a bit more fluffy.
