Top Cut Glasgow Review outside

Located just steps from the Gallery of Modern Art and the ever-iconic Duke of Wellington statue, this stylish steakhouse is in the former Mamasan site and it’s already making a strong case with us for one of the best value lunches in Glasgow city centre.

Inside Top Cut

The interior has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, even during quieter lunch services.  We would recommend booking a table, as this was just as soon as the doors opened and it filled up fast.

Keep an eye out for the cow with the traffic cone mirroring the Duke across the road at GOMA.

Here’s what we ate at Top Cut

We were greeted with a mug of popcorn, deliciously salty and moreish, far too easy to eat.  We’ll just order a HUGE bag of this to-go, please!

All that choice on their lunch menu, and we both pick the same thing the flat iron.  Well, it would have been rude to visit a steak restaurant and not eat a steak!  Mine was medium rare, with the colonels medium.  Both served with chips, mine with a side of beef dripping gravy for an extra £1.

We were both impressed with the presentation and the speed of delivery of the meal.  But would it taste good for the price?

It did indeed.  Helped along by the large crystals of salt decorating the warmed slate.  Flat Iron is one of the more budget cuts of steak; however, this didn’t taste like a budget piece. Moist, tender and with just enough marbling to not miss any exterior fat being present.  Alongside crisp chips, this was a tasty lunch at an excellent price, especially for the  city centre location.
