“Fly Tip Road Trip: Glasgow” exhibition at SWG3 Zinc Bar on Friday, 27th September 2024.
Initiated in 2021, the “What A Load O’ Rubbish” campaign is an artist-led initiative that addresses the growing issues of litter and waste across Scotland. Born out of the environmental impacts observed during the surge of staycations in rural beauty spots, the campaign has since gained momentum, bringing its poignant yet humorous message to diverse audiences.
The exhibition will feature the works of Dunfermline-based artist Alan Grieve and Glasgow-based street artist ‘Outr,’ both of whom bring unique styles and perspectives to the environmental discourse.
Speaking of the exhibition, curator Anna Zaitseva comments: “The ‘Fly Tip Road Trip’ exhibition is a unique site-specific show that adapts to the local litter challenges of each place it visits. The campaign’s messaging is satirical, tongue-in-cheek, and laugh-out-loud funny. It strikes a chord with people, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Glaswegian audience connects with the unique brand of humour-infused art. Our goal with this exhibition is to make people laugh, reflect, and leave with a strong message about the importance of tackling litter.”
The exhibition runs until Friday 1st November 2024, with Zinc Bar open Monday-Friday from 10am – 6pm.
