Scenic sailings on the Firth of Clyde
Looking for one of the most scenic boat trips in Scotland? The PS Waverley returns for its 2026 season with a packed programme of Clyde Coast cruises. Departing from Glasgow and beyond, these sailings offer the chance to explore the stunning Firth of Clyde, including trips around the Isle of Arran and past the iconic Ailsa Craig

Only on Waverley can you take in so much of the Firth of Clyde in one trip. Expect a constantly changing backdrop — from wide open stretches of water to sea lochs cutting deep into the hills. Highlights include the postcard-perfect Kyles of Bute and the unmistakable silhouette of Ailsa Craig rising dramatically from the sea.

Waverley 2026 Clyde Coast Sailing Dates

“Doon the Watter” – a classic Glasgow day out
Running from Friday 26th June to Sunday 30th August, the traditional “Doon the Watter” sailings are a summer staple. Departing from Glasgow, these trips offer a fresh perspective on the River Clyde — including the unique experience of passing through the opening bridges at Govan and Renfrew, a rare sight these days and a highlight in itself.
Around Arran and beyond
Circle one of Scotland’s most loved islands on Sunday 2nd August with the ever-popular “Steam Round the Isle of Arran.” Sailing around Isle of Arran, you’ll be treated to some of the best coastal scenery in the country — rugged mountains, quiet bays, and plenty of sea air.
There are also six chances this season to cruise around Ailsa Craig (6th & 20th July, 3rd, 10th & 17th August, plus 25th July), getting up close to this volcanic island that’s as striking as it is iconic.
Offers to make the most of it
Waverley continues to keep things family-friendly, with some tempting deals:
Seniors can enjoy special discounts on selected sailings
Ticket Prices, Discounts and Family Offers
“Bring a Friend” offers include FREE and half-price options on certain dates
Children aged 5–16 travel for just £1
Under 5s go free on all Clyde cruises

If you’re looking for a day out that mixes history, scenery and a touch of old-school charm, this is hard to beat. There’s something special about slowing down, watching the coastline drift by, and soaking up Scotland from the water — preferably with a cuppa (or something stronger) in hand.
Whether you’re a first-timer or returning for another sail, Waverley’s 2026 Clyde Coast programme is shaping up to be a cracker of a season.
