Desi Dhaba Chaiwala Glasgow review

Lamb curry Breakfast Desi Dhaba Chaiwala

Desi Dhaba Chaiwala – Southside Pakistani Food

The area around Eglinton Toll has always felt a bit lost for me. As if it was once a thriving area that lost its way and doesn’t know what to do with itself.   Once proud tenements sit alongside car washes.

We were recommended Desi Dhaba Chaiwala to be on our “to eat” list. One that we’ve passed by many a time, we had the opportunity to go in, so of course, we did!

Inside reminded me of our travels. That feeling of haphazard decor means that all the attention has gone into the cooking and not how Instagram perfect it looks. Although a special mention has to be made for the mural.

The only minus is the lack of a toilet on site.  There’s a garage (Shell) and a bar (Star Bar) nearby for emergencies.

Breakfast Desi Dhaba Chaiwala

Waleyte Nashta

Served all day this breakfast includes sausage, hash brown, mushrooms, tomato, fried egg, potato scone, turkey rashers, toast and chai.  A hearty meal and served quickly.

Lamb curry Breakfast Desi Dhaba Chaiwala

Lamb curry

Made with gourd and served with chapati.   Freshly made chapatti and a flavoursome curry.  On the bone, lamb cut into finger eating portions.  The gourd certainly gave this a bitter tang, so a dollop or two of mayo was added to calm this.  A larger portion of curry would have been welcomed, however, it was enough to go with the chapatti.
